Photo-Geek Alert: History-Lesson Fun Awaits in Fall

Talbot from hans p. krausOK, so October sounds far away. But, if you’re a photo geek, you’ll probably have no trouble hanging around (sort of like these guys, above) until “Silver Anniversary: 25 Photographs, 1835 to 1914” opens at Hans P. Kraus’ posh UESide digs. It’ll be like your photo history 101 text book, only hung on the wall—and for sale. Look for now-iconic images by William Henry Fox Talbot (Greek translator extraordinaire), and Alfred Steiglitz, curmudgeon-genius, who, when he wasn’t re-defining photo’s artistic potential, was busy blowing the public’s mind at his art gallery down in Gramercy Park.

Plus old gems by Bayard, Stanton, Fenton…

No admission fees in galleries, you know. So hang on.

(Thanks, Hans P. Kraus reps, for the images.)
