Resources for Artists
Help! I need an Artist’s Statement
Help, I need an artist’s statement—Stat!
In addition to my own writing (art criticism, journalism), my big campaign is artists’ statements—both educating artists on how to write them, and writing them myself. So, if you want to do either, you can just contact me, and I’ll tell you my rates. I’ll also let you know here when more public events are coming up.
Here are some Past Events.
City College, CUNY, Manhattan. Day-long visiting critic/writing consultant. April, 2010
#hashtagclass with Jennifer Dalton and William Powhida at Winkelman Gallery, Chelsea. March, 2010
(In this event, I wrote in real time, performance art style, and lectured. The Chelsea gallery was reconstituted into a classroom for the duration of the show.)

Dumbo Arts Center, “Survivor” Workshops, 2010, 2009
Brooklyn Arts Council, Artist’s Statement Writing Workshops, 2009, 2008

Me, giving a writing workshop at DAC (Dumbo Arts Center) June, 2009
Pierogi Gallery, Brooklyn; Queens Council for the Arts; Pierro Gallery; Visiting Critic at Smack Mellon; Lehmann College; Pace University; Parsons; Bronx Council for the Arts; AIM Program (Bronx Museum)…
So, to summarize: I love helping artists write.
I charge by the hour, if you want me to write your statement for you, or your website, or your bio, or whatever. You can also hire me to do a workshop at your venue.
Peace. Take a Deep Breath. It’s gonna be OK! I write artists’ statement before breakfast.
Well, but not before my coffee. ; – )
