Easy reading
My thought: take a book from the street, that you simply just find, and walk around with it for the day.
…helps me catch up on contemporary fiction.
Then, another idea: de-accession all those free catalogs I get for being an art critic.
I left this one at Pierogi’s Boiler location in W’burg, a while back. I figure, [...]

Correction: Where is 240 Division Ave? A type-O.
OK, not my fault. Literature on the Artist’s Statement Writing Workshop tomorrow (click here for link; 5:30–7:30PM) was sent out with a type-O–including to me. The Williamsburg branch of the NYPL is 240 Division–considerably closer to two subways.
Again, I look forward to seeing you. BAC says they are bringing highlighting pens. I think you can [...]

This Just In: Art Still Fun
At Pierogi’s Boiler location, artists wait and wonder and hope and dream: will their 6″ block of wood make it to the finals? Will it make it down the track?
What’s strange about this amazing event–in which grown men and women whittle, assemble, and otherwise alter classic pine derby racers and then race them down a [...]

Fine show’s a $teal at Pierogi
Check out Jane Fine’s show, newly opened at Pierogi. Paintings on paper (and wood, and canvas)—all strong, worth a look for sure.
But wait, there’s more…paper, and more affordable work. Really affordable, actually, at what the artist tells us is around $600 ($680 if framed).
C’mon, you know you want one.
Bold, graphic. And within reach of those with [...]

More Artists who are ‘Up There’
Joyce Pensato (this installation shot in Williamsburg, courtesy of–thanks–bloggy) is among my top favorite artists who aren’t 26. She’s on a more beaten (read: artmarket) path. Finally. She deserves the fame.
Another favorite is Rochelle Feinstein, whose recent Art Production Fund show rocked. Feinstein teaches at Yale; yet she isn’t afraid to paint like a young [...]

Watch: Williamsburg Documentary “Brooklyn DIY” trailer
A filmmaker named Marcin Ramocki made a funny and sort of controversial film documentary about the Williamsburg art scene--when did it start, end, and, perhaps, die?
Make your comments below if you saw the film; or, if you've loved/felt you've lost/still love the 'Billyburg scene. Would be interested to hear how all this pans out for you.
Or
just watch a video of James Turrell's awesome-classic at PS1.
Is this more where we're at these Recession Days? Waiting, looking up, wondering what comes next?
